Uniquely located on the edge of a tranquil park, Pilrig House offers guests peace away from traffic noise, yet it is only a 15-minute stroll, or 5-minutes by bus to Edinburgh's city centre. Pilrig House is a house of notable distinction. It was owned by the same family - the Balfours - for hundreds of years. Robert Louis Stevenson's (one of Scotland's most acclaimed authors) family lived here. RLS visited the House and played in the gardens as a child. He mentions Pilrig in many of his books and letters, including Kidnapped and Catriona.
Pilrig House is only a 15-minute walk to Edinburgh's city centre & Princes Street - Edinburgh's main street, or to Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and Holyrood Park, The National Art Gallery, The Scottish Parliament... Edinburgh Botanical Gardens are also within walking distance of the apartments. Also within a mile of the apartments, in the other direction, is the 'Shore' area of Leith - Edinburgh's port - where the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed, and where a diverse mix of resturants, bars, small galleries await discovery.
The apartments are close to local eating places, a post office and shops. Plus, there is a post-box on the back wall of the property. |
